How to play Greater Than sudoku
Greater Than sudoku, sometimes called comparison sudoku, has no given digits at all. Signs between cells tell you which of each pair is bigger.
Signs between neighbours.
The rules
- Classic rules apply: every row, column and 3×3 box holds the digits 1 to 9 once each.
- Inside each box, a sign between two cells shows which digit is bigger.
- The sign points at the smaller digit, like 3 < 7.
Where to start
- A cell that every sign points at is small, often 1 or 2. A cell no sign points at is big. Start there.
- A chain of signs works like a thermometer: in a chain of four rising cells, the smallest is at most 6 and the biggest at least 4.
